FROM PASTOR JOSEPH AT THE CITY OF REFUGE:
GREAT NEWS! IT’S A BOY!
Those of you who have been following Blessing’s story, her hospitalization following severe burns on her legs and back, her pregnancy and slow recovery, will be thrilled to know that on April 18 she safely delivered a bouncing baby boy! Pray for this family, as Blessing’s wound is still very serious, with at least another two months’ stay in the hospital ahead of them.
NEW HEBRON FREE METHODIST CHURCH!
Worship continues among Christian Fulani at the New Hebron FMC. Please pray for their continued health and safety! You may notice that social distancing is NOT happening here; lock-down has NOT been required for this state.
FROM PASTOR WISDOM AT ERO MOUNTAIN GRAZING RESERVE:
Pastor Wisdom, reserve manager, writes that our Frisian bull, Carl, continues to eat them out of house and home! Carl had better produce some mighty fine calves someday soon, to pay us back for all the food he’s consumed! The rest of the herd is looking very good, thanks to the silage available to them as well. We’re clearing out some useless weeds to make room for nutritious pasture grass and preparing to plant corn for the next round of silage production!
FROM ALHAJI MOGODI, MOGODI CAMP SCHOOL:
Mogodi writes that he and his family are all healthy and well. They send their greetings to all of you! The Wakili, Fulani leader in the area, and the three other PTA members send their love as well. They thank and praise God that all of us together are healthy!
FROM REV. JOHN RAJI RE BOBI GRAZING RESERVE:
Rev. John Raji writes that there is no sign of the virus on the reserve. All parents and children are well. John went around and met with each of the reserve leaders, letting them know that we are thinking about them and praying for them. John’s photos aren’t very clear, but I’ll include them anyway, as he went to the trouble of sending them to us!
FROM REV. JACOB AHIABA, NNMAC FMC SUPERINTENDENT
‘Greetings to you from the Northern Nigeria Mission Annual Conference in the name of our dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is beautiful and joyful to hear from you once more that you are doing fine with all our friends and love ones in United States of America.
Here in Nigeria, the Churches in the Conference have been preserved from the virus, but some are experiencing hardship because of the lock-downs in their states. Pastors and members especially need your prayers as Church services are done at home for now. We thought this would be over last week, but now the government has added more two weeks.
Our greetings to everyone, and may the Lord richly bless you, in Jesus’ Name.
Love from Sup’t. Jacob and Janet Ahiaba.’
FROM DR. RON RICE: PRAISE REPORT
Dr. Rice is a good friend, Director of ‘Wheelchairs for Nigeria’ (NGO,) and Board Member of ‘Schools for Africa’!
Just HAVE to share this! ‘Ayuba called again this evening. (Ayuba is head of manufacturing of the wheelchairs.) It turned out Rachael, (his wife,) had gone into the kids’ bedroom to make sure they were under their mosquito nets. There was no NEPA, (electricity,) so in the dark she was using her phone for light. I don’t know if she heard the cobra or what, but it had raised its head, flared out its hood and was ready to strike.
Ayuba had to drive a long ways to the other side of the city to get the snake charmer in the middle of the night to bring him back to the house. He found two huge cobras in the house. Praise the Lord Rachael wasn’t bitten or any of the kids.’
FROM PHYLLIS:
All is well at our house, among our families and friends. We thank God for this great blessing and pray that you and your loved ones as well are experiencing the wonderful protection God promises in Psalm 91.
As you have seen, I’m staying in close touch with our friends and ministry partners in Nigeria. It’s difficult to be separated at this time, but I’m trusting God that by early June, which had been my original plan anyway, I’ll be able to head back to work.
Please continue to support the work of Schools for Africa in Nigeria. Our teachers need their salaries, our nurse needs hers as well. Blessing needs a further two months’ medical care, for herself now AND her new baby, which includes hospitalization, medication and doctors’ bills. These are expenses that we cannot ignore.
Thanks for all you do already, for your love, prayers and faithful support. May God bless and keep you, and give you the desires of your hearts.
Sincerely,
Phyllis Sortor
FROM GOD….PSALM 91:9-16
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[a] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
